This university brief was a group project for Orange, to predict what could happen in the future of mobile communication. Our take on this was that it would be possible to communicate with friends, family and colleagues while in underground train stations, using Orange Messageboards.
Using each phone’s individual IMEI number, it would be easy to track where an individual is on the underground, and their new messages would follow them along the escalators and jump across boards in larger underground spaces. The boards would be positioned in places that would cause the least congestion.
On boards near ticket offices and waiting areas, Orange users could reply to their messages using a large multi-user touchscreen. Their messages would be identified by an individual character or icon which they could choose or design. Of course senders would be asked if they wanted to keep their message private to avoid other people on the underground from reading.
I designed the logo, co-designed the website, and produced the interactive mockup.
